Formerly known as the St. Nicholas Ball and, before that, the Festival of Trees, the Evergreen Gala carries forward a cherished tradition while embracing a name that reflects the enduring nature of Catholic Charities’ mission.

Evergreen speaks to what we hope to cultivate together: deep roots, lasting change, and a community that continues to grow in every season. Like an evergreen, our commitment to serving our neighbors remains steadfast through changing times. Our work may take many forms, from housing and immigration legal services to refugee support, education, and family programs, but at its heart is the same call: to recognize the dignity of every person and to stand alongside those who need support, opportunity, and hope.

The name also reflects the Catholic social teachings and core values that guide our work: the dignity of the human person, solidarity with our neighbors, a commitment to serve, and the belief that we are called to care for the most vulnerable among us.
